MALACAÑANGRESIDENCE OF THE PRESIDENTOF THE PHILIPPINESManila Proclamation No. 29 DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM JUNE 1 TO 7, 1954 AS NATIONAL MUSIC WEEK WHEREAS, music is a common cultural heritage that must be upheld and developed in order to assure our nation that fullness of life which is the goal of all civilized peoples; WHEREAS, in order to place the blessings of music within the reach of the humblest man in the barrio, we must systematically develop the inherent musical gift of our people; and WHEREAS, the attainment of this objective can be accelerated by making our people more music-conscious; Now, THEREFORE, I, Ramon Magsaysay, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the period from June 1 to 7, 1954, as National Music Week, and designate the Department of Education to take charge of, and coordinate, all activities in commemoration of said week.
