PRESIDENTIAL DECREE No. 1170

TRANSFERRING THE SEAT OF GOVERNMENT OF THE PROVINCE OF MAGUINDANAO FROM THE MUNICIPALITY OF MAGANOY TO THE MUNICIPALITY OF SULTAN KUDARAT

WHEREAS, the present set of the provincial government of Maguindanao is not very accessible to the residents of the different municipalities therein;

WHEREAS, the proposed seat of government at Sultan Kudarat is more accessible, being centrally located within the province;

WHEREAS, the municipality of Sultan Kudarat has more facilities to offer, being near the Polloc Port and situated at the crossroads of national highways leading to Davao City, the two Lanaos and South Cotabato;

WHEREAS, the people of Sultan Kudarat, their civic leaders and the different municipal mayors have expressed their desire that the transfer of the seat of government be made for the above reasons;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution, do hereby order and decree;

Summary of Presidential Decree No. 1170

Transfer of Seat of Government of Maguindanao Province
- The seat of government of the Province of Maguindanao is transferred from the Municipality of Maganoy to the Municipality of Sultan Kudarat. (Section 1)
- The transfer is made because:
    - The current seat in Maganoy is not very accessible to residents of different municipalities.
    - Sultan Kudarat is more centrally located and accessible within the province.
    - Sultan Kudarat has more facilities, being near the Polloc Port and situated at crossroads of national highways leading to Davao City, the two Lanaos, and South Cotabato.
    - The people of Sultan Kudarat, civic leaders, and municipal mayors expressed their desire for the transfer. (Whereas clauses)
- Presidential Decree No. 341 is amended accordingly. (Section 2)
- The decree takes effect immediately. (Section 3)
