This refers to your letter dated March 16, 2009 requesting for a Certificate of Tax Exemption under the provisions of Republic Act No. 6938, otherwise known as the "Cooperative Code of the Philippines". DcSEHT
It is represented that PINDANGAN ESTATE MULTI-PURPOSE COOPERATIVE with TIN No. 005-931-619-000 is a multi-purpose cooperative with Registration No. DAG-3924 on June 3, 1998 issued by the Cooperative Development Authority; that it transacts business with members and non-members; that the primary purposes for which it was formed are:
"1. To encourage thrift and savings mobilization among the members for capital formation;
2. To create funds in order to grant loans for productive and providential purposes to its members;
3. To provide goods and services and other requirements of the members;
4. To undertake agricultural and/or industrial production purposes;
5. To engage in supply of production inputs to members/non members and market their products; and
