This refers to your letter dated May 12, 2008 requesting a confirmatory ruling on the exemption enjoyed by cooperatives under the provision of R.A. No. 6938, otherwise known as the Cooperative Code of the Philippines.
Documents submitted disclosed that Marsman Individual Farming Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Cooperative is a multi-purpose cooperative with principal office address at Tibal-og, Sto. Tomas, Davao del Norte; that it is registered with the Cooperative Development Authority with CDA Registration No. RN-7896-DVO on August 31, 2004; that the objectives and purposes for which it was formed among others, are as follows:
1. To develop an appropriate system of land tenure, land development, land consolidation or legal management in the areas covered by agrarian reform;
2. To coordinate and facilitate the dissemination of scientific methods of production, and provide assistance in the storage, transport and marketing of farm products for agrarian reform beneficiaries;
